Carrie Gallant

Passionate about creating positive change in the world, Carrie Gallant devoted ten years of her early career to the Ontario Pay Equity Commission, first as a mediator-adjudicator, then as Chief Legal Counsel. Having observed the powerful difference legislation can make in many women’s lives by shifting gender inequities in pay systems, Carrie also discovered that profound and lasting change occurs when women are empowered to create positive changes in their own lives. A current theme of Carrie’s work is empowering women to create positive change in their worlds through mastering the art of negotiating and influencing, authentically and with integrity.

Carrie left Toronto in June 2001 for the beauty and outdoor life in Vancouver, and to become Director of the conflict resolution program at the Justice Institute of BC. After leaving there to launch her consulting business, Gallant Solutions Inc., Carrie continues to provide mediation, facilitation, coaching and negotiation consulting services to a wide variety of private and public sector organizations, nationally and internationally. An adjunct professor at the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Law, where she has taught both Negotiation and Mediation Advocacy, Carrie is also a frequent speaker and facilitator at conferences throughout North America. She likes to blend her creative side by incorporating improvisational and forum theatre techniques into her work. A highlight has been her role as Legal Consultant for Headlines Theatre’s historic 2004 legislative theatre project, Practicing Democracy, including presenting the audiences’ recommendations to Vancouver City Council with Artistic Director, David Diamond.

Her current community involvement includes: Vice President of CoRe Conflict Resolution Society; Advisory Board member for the Young Women in Business; and Mentor with both the Advancing Women Leaders program with Women in Leadership Foundation, and the Connect to Success program with the Vancouver YWCA.
